Part 2 | God’s Commencement Address

From Romans 8

The 5 secrets Christians know about purpose:

1. We know there is , but .

📖 Romans 8:18-19 (ESV) For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.

📖 1 John 3:2 (ESV) Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

Suffering does not your – it it.

📖 John 16:33 (ESV)“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

The 5 secrets Christians know about purpose:

2. We know the life is so .

📖 Romans 8:20-21 (ESV) For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

📖 Genesis 1:26 (ESV) Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

📖 Genesis 1:28 (ESV) And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

📖 Genesis 3:17-19 (ESV) And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

📖 Romans 5:17 (ESV) For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

📖 Romans 8:22-23 (ESV) For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

📖 Romans 8:24-25 (ESV) For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

The 5 secrets Christians know about purpose:

3. We know we are for.

📖 Romans 8:26 (ESV) Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

📖 Romans 8:27 (ESV) And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

📖 Hebrews 7:24-25 (ESV) Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. 25 Therefore He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

The 5 secrets Christians know about purpose:

4. We know it’s God’s , not .

📖 Romans 8:28 (ESV) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

📖 Psalm 91:14 (ESV) Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.

📖 Romans 8:29 (ESV) For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

📖 Ephesians 1:3-4 (ESV) He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
