A Christ-Centered Me in 2023 | A New Year’s Day Message

From 2 Corinthians 5

There is no like the in Christ.

1. He takes out and puts in .

📖 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ESV For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.

📖 Acts 7:58 ESV Then they cast him (Stephen) out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

📖 Acts 7:60 ESV And falling to his knees he (Stephen) cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. 1 And Saul approved of his execution.

📖 Acts 9:1-2 ESV Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

📖 Acts 9:18-20 ESV And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; 19 and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus. 20 And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”

📖 2 Corinthians 5:15 ESV and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.

📖 Galatians 2:20 ESV I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

“The great question is, what constitutes a Christian? It is being so compelled by the love of our divine Lord to us that we consecrate our lives to him.

2. He takes out and gives us .

📖 2 Corinthians 5:16 ESV From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.

📖 2 Corinthians 5:16 NLT So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now!

3. He takes out and puts in .

📖 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

📖 2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

📖 2 Corinthians 5:19 ESV that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

📖 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

4. He takes out and puts in .

📖 2 Corinthians 5:20 ESV Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
