Really Big Wednesday – August 2024 | Increase Our Faith

From Luke 17

📖 Luke 17:5 ESV The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

📖 Luke 17:1-4 ESV  And he said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin. 3 Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, 4 and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

📖 Luke 17:6 ESV And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

📖 Matthew 13:31-32 ESV “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

Having is not about ; it’s about .

1. faith is a faith.

📖 Luke 13:18-19 ESV He said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.”

📖 James 2:18 ESV I will show you my faith by my works.

📖 Luke 17:6 ESV And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say…

📖 Luke 6:45 ESV The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

📖 Proverbs 18:21 ESV The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

📖 James 3:4-5 ESV Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

📖 Psalm 101:5-7 ESV I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. 6 I will search for faithful people to be my companions. … 7 I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence.

3. faith is faith.

📖 Luke 17:6 ESV you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

4. faith is faith.

📖 Luke 17:7-10 ESV “Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? 8 Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? 9 Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? 10 So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’ ”
