From Galatians 1:6-10

Not All Wisdom is the Same: There is worldly wisdom, which aims to serve and please oneself. And Godly wisdom which comes from fear of the Lord and honors God.

📖 Proverbs 9:10 (ESV)  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

📖 Galatians 1:6-7 (ESV) I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 

  • Is your source: Tradition and Culture or is your source the Word of God?
  • The True Gospel is a result of God’s gift of Grace.
  • The counterfeit gospel is a result of man adding works to what God has already accomplished.

📖 2 John 1:9-11 (ESV) Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.  If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting,  for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

📖 Galatians 1:8-9 (ESV) But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.

  • We need wisdom from above to tell the difference.

📖 James 3:13-17 (ESV) Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.  For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

Examples of twisting God’s Truth:

  • God is Love, countered by Love is love, Love is big.
  • God is Truth, countered by Live your truth.
  • God says your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, countered by My body, my choice
  • God created the heavens and the earth, countered by the Universe is trying to tell me something.

Wisdom to Know:

📖 Galatians 1:10 (ESV) For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

📖 Romans 1:16-17 (ESV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
